Privacy Policy

Equal North is a personal research studio run by one person, Edward Quigley — not a company with a data team, an ad business, or anything to sell. This page explains, plainly, what happens (and mostly doesn't happen) to your information when you visit equalnorth.dev.

The short version

This site doesn't use cookies, doesn't run analytics or tracking scripts, doesn't have accounts or logins, and doesn't sell or share data — because it doesn't collect any beyond what's described below. If you email us, that email is used only to reply to you.

What this site does not do

  • No cookies are set by this site.
  • No analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts (no Google Analytics, no ad pixels, no session recorders).
  • No user accounts, no passwords, no profiles.
  • No sale, rental, or sharing of personal information with third parties, ever.

What is processed, and by whom

Hosting logs. Like effectively every website on the internet, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical request information (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) for security and reliability purposes. We don't use this data for tracking or marketing, and in the normal course of running the site we don't look at it.

Google Fonts. This site loads typefaces from Google's font CDN (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com). Your browser makes a direct request to Google's servers to fetch those font files, which means Google may log that request (including your IP address) under Google's own privacy policy. We don't control this and don't receive any data from it ourselves.

Email contact. If you email [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you send us. That information is used only to read and respond to your message. It isn't added to a mailing list, shared with anyone else, or used for anything besides that conversation.

External links. Links to LinkedIn, Instagram, PanelFlow (panelflow.me), and elsewhere take you to services we don't operate, each with its own privacy practices. This policy only covers equalnorth.dev.

Your rights

Because this site collects so little, there's rarely anything to request — but you're entitled to ask, and we'll always answer honestly.

If you're in the EU/UK (GDPR/UK GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the (minimal) data we might hold about you — such as an email you sent us — and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. There's no automated decision-making or profiling happening on this site.

If you're in California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We don't sell or share personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of.

Everywhere else: the same principle applies regardless of where you're visiting from — we aim to meet the spirit of privacy laws like PIPEDA (Canada), the Privacy Act (Australia), POPIA (South Africa), and LGPD (Brazil), by simply not collecting more than we need. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, regardless of age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, if analytics or a contact form are ever added — this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.

Contact

Questions about this policy, or a request relating to your data, can go to [email protected].

Not legal advice. This policy is written in good faith to be clear and accurate about how this specific, low-data site works. It's not a substitute for professional legal counsel, and if Equal North ever grows to collect meaningfully more data (accounts, payments, analytics), this page will be revisited properly before that happens.
